Bio

Avinash Balakrishnan is a ML Research Engineer in the AI Foundations Organization, where he develops generative AI frameworks, large language model (LLM) toolkits, and structured inference systems. His work focuses on transforming brittle prompts into reliable, verifiable AI programs through composable architectures.

Currently, Avinash is a core contributor to Mellea, IBM Research's open-source generative computing library. He also contributes to AISteer360, an LLM steerability toolkit, developing steering methods for model alignment and control. His research interests span explainable AI, LLM alignment, and building robust AI frameworks.

He holds a Master of Science in Statistics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
