Business Provenance - overview
The Business Provenance solution provides deeper visibility into processes and information by capturing history and context as it relates to specific business and operational goals. Business provenance provides an integrated view of line of business (LOB) processes as they execute across multiple transactions. We leverage this to provide continuous monitoring, audit and mine this data for increased insight.
Research challenges:
- Semi-structured nature of real-world processes (consisting of collaborative / ad hoc as well as formal parts)
- application of BPM techniques to such processes
Real world applications:
- Monitoring suspicious orders
- Continuous audit of business controls for IBM's Firewall Rules Revalidation
- End-to-end monitoring and mining of semi-structured processes
