PhD Fellow - Cognitive Healthcare and Life Sciences Department
Zurich Research Laboratory, Zurich, Switzerland

Aurélien is part of the Sysbio Healthcare and Life Sciences department at IBM Research Zurich, and is pursuing his PhD in a joint program between IBM Research and the Computational Biology Group, ETH Zürich. His research focuses on the immune system, by combining mathematical modeling and machine learning methods with the analysis of gene expression and RNA sequencing data, his work aims to unravel the causes behind major diseases, such as lymphatic cancer, autoimmune diseases and HIV.
Aurélien Pélissier obtained in 2018 his master degree in fundamental physics from the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) Paris-Saclay. During his academic curriculum, he had the opportunity to join the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, and then moved to the University of British Columbia, Canada, for a predoctoral research program proposed by his university. During these research experiences, he worked on computational modeling methods to accuratly simulate complex nonlinear physical phenomenons involved in semiconductor physics and ultrafast spectroscopy. In 2018, he moved to the University of Hokkaido, Japan, to do his master thesis in artificial intelligence and reinforcement learning, where he worked on machine learning and statistical methods for cancer research and Raman spectroscopy.
