profile

Senior Research Engineer on The Jefferson Project at Lake George and PhD student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  Researching harmful algal blooms (HABs) on multiple scales, including on several lakes within New York State.  Supporting efforts include a variety of sensor deployments in Lake George, NY, as well as at other lakes in NYS enabling high-resolution observation and modeling of full lake circulation (including contaminant and invasive species dispersion), as well as supporting the modeling and coupling between weather, watershed, and food-web systems. These sensors are integrated into a Cyberinfrastructure via radio and other communications methods to provide real-time and logged inputs to establish current state conditions and also to iteratively refine and improve the computer models. These models are used to predict future event conditions and responses, and may be used to provide guidance for the surrounding communities for effective near and longer-term preservation of the lake ecology. Sensor data analysis including data from weather stations, tributary stations, Vertical Profilers, and Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers.
