Quantum solitons in optical fibres

Abstract

The quantum-mechanical properties of long-lived optical pulses known as solitons have recently been studied theoretically and observed experimentally. These experiments suggest effective ways of reducing quantum noise in signal transmission and of performing quantum-mechanical non-demolition measurements without destroying the signal. © 1993 Nature Publishing Group.
