Anelastic and electrical resistivity measurements have been used to study hydrogen absorption, annealing and crystallization of glassy Pd//8//2Si//1//8. Crystallization occurs in two stages, the first of which reduces hydrogen absorption. After the second stage, which is thought to produce the orthorhombic silicide Pd//9Si//2, hydrogen absorption is restored and is accompanied by large changes in resistivity, a new internal friction peak, and a Gorsky relaxation of novel characteristics.
