Pulsed VUV radiation forms CF3* via the reaction CF3Br + hv (121 nm) → CF3* + Br. The two fluorescence transitions, near 250 and 600 nm, are seen to be allowed transitions with time constants of 12 ± 3 and 18 ± 3 ns, respectively. These time constants and also quenching with nitrogen show that the two emitting states are different. © 1985.
