I am part of the Security Solutions department of the IBM Zurich Research Lab. Since 2002, I am active in research in areas of big data, machine learning, computer security and privacy, services and systems management. Current interests include data analytics and machine learning in computer security, extended detection and response (XDR), privacy and de-sensitisation. I joined IBM Research in 1993, first as part of the IT group of the lab, later serving as the manager of the IT department until 2002. I received a diploma in physics (1988) at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, and a Ph.D in physics (1993) at the University of Zürich, Switzerland.
