I am a Research Staff Member of the Business Optimization Group in the Mathematical and Computational Sciences Department of the Zurich Research Lab, where I am a project leader for Transportation and Operations Research. My main research interests are in optimization and control, in particular robust and stochastic optimization for decision making under uncertainty.
I have a diploma degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Dortmund (1999) and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich (2003).
From 2004 to 2010 I was with the Institute for Operations Research at ETH Zurich first as a postdoc and later as a senior research associate, leading the networks group, which was concerned with the analysis, design, and control of complex networked systems, particularly of production, transportation, and infrastructure networks.
In 2010, I received the venia legendi from the Department of Management, Economics, and Technology of ETH Zurich for my habilitation thesis on Robust Planning Methods for Operations Management in Complex Infrastructure Networks. In this context, I am teaching courses on Operations Research, System Modeling and Optimization, and Robust Planning and Optimization.
