I am a Research Staff Member in the Services Research group at the IBM Almaden Research Center. I'm also associated with the Accelerated Discovery Lab, a new collaborative platform for research focused on developing solutions to data-intensive problems. I started at Almaden as part of the Computer Science group, where my focus was on data integration and query optimization. I had the good fortune to be a key member of the Garlic project, a heterogeneous data integration platform that became the core of the InfoSphere Federation Server, and led to many happy years for me at the IBM Silicon Valley Lab as a member of the InfoSphere product development team. I have a master's degree in computer science from the University of Wisconsin, and I'm slowly working to complete my PhD at UC Santa Cruz.
