Samir Tata is currently a Research Staff Member with IBM’s Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA, USA. He is member of the Ubiquitous Platforms. Samir is currently working on different projects related to the Internet of Things and Cloud Computing including the enablement of
- IoT/Edge platform: a seamless compute platform from IoT devices and edge systems to Cloud environments to in-house enterprise compute environments,
- IoT application management: deployment, monitoring and controlling of IoT applications from edge to Cloud
- IoT data management: of provenance information from sensor reading to edge to Cloud, data sovereignty management based on assured provenance and ownership, edge to Cloud, Tiered storage life cycle management, from edge to Cloud backend storage
Before joining IBM, Samir was a Full Professor at Telecom SudParis, part of Institut Mines-Telecom and the University of Paris-Saclay, France. Samir holds a PhD in Computer Science and Master of Science from the University of Nancy I, France.
Samir has published more that 130 refereed articles, conference papers, and book chapters as well as technical reports. He is/was chair of several international conference and workshops, member of the steering and the program committee of several international conferences. He serves regularly on Ph.D. Committees and teaches graduate classes. He served as a project reviewer of European and French research funding programs.
