Education

  • B. Tech., Electrical Engineering, I.I.T Delhi (1997)
  • M.S. - Ph.D., Electrical Engineering, Stanford University (2005)

Professional interests

I work in the Cognitive Algorithms group within the Cognitive Computing department where my research focuses on the general areas of decision-making under uncertainty and statistical inference. We apply methods and tools from applied probability (probabilistic modeling and optimization), machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze and solve problems arising in complex systems. I was an adjunct faculty with the Dept. of Computer Science at Columbia University during the Spring 2009 term and taught a graduate level course on "Modeling and Performance Evaluation" (E-6180). I am a member of the ACM, INFORMS and a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Research interests

I have a broad background and interest in:

  • Combinatorial/Stochastic Optimization and Operations Research
  • Statistical Inference, Graphical models, Reasoning and Planning
  • Design and analysis of algorithms for Networks, Switches and Queuing systems
  • Information Theory, Digital Communication, Signal Processing
