profile

I am a scientist and research manager in the area of machine learning for medical image analysis at IBM Almaden Research Center. I graduated from the School of Computing at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in 2008. After completing research fellowships at the University of British Columbia (2008-2011) and at Harvard Medical School (2011-2012), I joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of British Columbia as an assistant professor in 2012. I joined IBM Research in 2014. I am also an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. My areas of research are mainly in the area of big data for healthcare, with a particular interest in handling difficulties posed by multimodal and incomplete nature of medical image and text data. I have developed technologies to address these issues.
