Matthew Hill is a Senior Software Engineer in the Multimedia and Vision Department at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center. He received a B.A. degree in computer science from Cornell University, and an M.S. degree in computer science from Columbia University. Prior to IBM, he worked for Cognex Corp. on software for industrial machine vision applications. In 1998, he joined IBM Research and has been a longtime contributor to IMARS (IBM Multimedia Analytics and Retrieval System) as well as other image-related projects such as invisible watermarking and content-based copy detection of video sequences. He contributed to high-throughput image recognition applications using the IBM InfoSphere Streams platform, and developed the custom learning framework for the Watson Developer Cloud service Visual Recognition. His work has earned several IBM awards and resulted in many patents and peer-reviewed publications.
