As an Executive Architect and Master Inventor in NY Jennifer works with IBM clients - leading strategy discussions and creating solution roadmaps to build a vision around their goals and desired outcomes, while leveraging solutions from the Watson portfolio. This includes leading discovery workshops with the client, presenting a range of cutting edge solutions that include unstructured text analytics, as well as image and video analysis. Her industry focus is Public Sector, where clients’ interests range from national security and law enforcement to public health and tax collection
Previously, Jennifer was on assignment at IBM Research – Australia where as a Senior Manager she was responsible for the Cognitive Computing research agenda at the lab. She led more than 20 researchers and developers breaking new ground in real-time social analytics, as well as image and video analytics.
Jennifer’s expertise is in the interdisciplinary area of deriving data insights with intelligent user systems, including interactive visual analytics and people-centric information solutions. She has led teams whose skills range from deep learning with NLP, to visualizing data, to analyzing text and images. As the creator and leader of the THINKLab in Melbourne, Jennifer got the space transformed from cubicles, to an open client space for innovation and discovery. There she hosted hundreds of clients, wowing them with technology from IBM.
With 23 patents issued, several patents pending and over 56 publications Jennifer is an internationally known scientist whose work has been recognized with multiple Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards and three IBM Research Accomplishments. Her publications have been cited 3,203 times with 1,364 citations since 2010. In addition to management, Jennifer has deep technical expertise in social media, experience design, cognitive computing and multimodal technologies, including speech and image recognition. Media trained, she has been interviewed by all the major media channels (e.g. NPR, NY Times, WSJ) on multiple occasions for her work.
