HariGovind (Hari) Ramasamy is a Senior Manager and Senior Technical Staff Member in the IBM Watson Health division. Hari's broad research interests are in the dependability, security, and management of distributed systems. His recent work has focused on cloud resiliency and analytics for IT services transformation. He has published more than 35 peer-reviewed technical papers and has over 30 issued or pending patents to his credit. 

Hari is an IBM Master Inventor, IBM Academy of Technology Member, an IEEE Senior Member, and a member of the IFIP Working Group (WG) 10.4 on Dependable Computing and Fault-tolerance. He has previously served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ) and currently serves on its Glossary Committee.

Hari is passionate about teaching, in particular graduate-level courses based on his industry and research experiences. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department at New York University (NYU), and a Teaching Associate Professor in the ECE department at North Carolina State University. Previously, he has served as an Adjunct Faculty at Columbia University (2012, 2010).

Prior to joining IBM Watson Health, Hari was at the IBM Zurich Research Laboratory as a Visiting Scientist, and at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center as a Research Staff Member and Research Manager.

Hari obtained his Ph.D. and MS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2006 and 2002 respectively. Earlier, he obtained his B.E. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University (Chennai) in 1999.
