I am a research scientist (RSM) at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in New York. My research interests are in the areas of information integration, data exploration & curation, and Web data management.

I'm currently working on several problems related to accurate and efficient discovery of links within and between large data repositories. In particular:

  • Linking enterprise data to facilitate online exploratory data analytics and semantic data curation, in the context of the Helix project. Our aim is to provide a guided data exploration and analysis engine for Big Data. We have developed a highly scalable, generic, and knowledge-drive data curation technology as a part of this project.
  • Linking life sciences data, in particular: 1) clinical trials data, in the context of LinkedCT and xCurator projects. 2) drug data and drug-drug-interaction (see our JBI paper).
  • Linking bibliographic data in BibTeX files, as an extension of the BibBase project.

In the past, I have worked on a framework for link discovery over relational data (the LinQuer project), and linking movie data on the web (the LinkedMDB project).

In 2010, I received the IBM PhD fellowship award, and the 2010 Yahoo! Key Scientific Challenges award. I have received the first prize at the Linked Data Triplification Challenge (an annual contest that awards prizes to the most promising projects in the area of Linked Data) twice (2008 and 2009). I am a graduate of the University of Toronto (M.Sc., Ph.D.) and Sharif University of Technology (B.Sc.).
