profile

I'm a native of Sete, a French harbor located on the Mediterranean shore. I pursued my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Montpellier II, completing my B.Sc. in organic chemistry in 1994 and M.Sc. in heterochemistry, polymers and catalysis in 1995, both with distinction. In 1999, I obtained my Ph.D. degree summa cum laude from the same University under the supervision of Professor Robert Corriu for work on the synthesis and study of organic-inorganic hybrid materials incorporating chelates and their application for dioxygen binding. From 1999 to 2000, I was a postdoctoral fellow in the group of Professor Roger Guilard at the University of Burgundy, where I discovered new carbon monoxide single molecular complex captors. In 2000, I moved to the United States and a postdoctoral position in the group of Professor Daniel Stack at Stanford University, developing bio-inspired catalysts for the selective epoxidation of terminal alkenes. In November 2002, I joined the IBM Research Division at their Almaden Research Center in California. I've been the project leader for the development and implementation of new spin-on low-k materials for the last 10 years. I was appointed a permanent research staff member in the advanced organic materials group in July 2006, and the manager of the hybrid polymeric materials group in January 2011. I've also been a Consulting Associate Professor in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford University since 2009.

Currently, I act as the associate of the vice president and lab director of the IBM Research - Almaden, home to 350+ researchers, with the planning and execution of strategy, operations, finance and business.
