Emily has been leading the early childhood education initiative under the Education Transformation team at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center since June 2015. She works to develop engaging and intelligent learning systems that adapt to each user and take learning into multiple modalities customized for young children. Before joining this team, her research focused on automated building of ontologies from unstructured data and concept clustering as well as fast relaibility test development for chips and circuits.
Emily received her Ph.D. in Physics from the University of North Carolina in 2012 specializing in visible-wavelength plasmonics characterization and nanoscale materials fabrication un Dr. Rene Lopez. She earned her B.A. in Physics from Vanderbilt Unviersity and worked with Dr. Leonard Feldman investigating the pressure dependency of SiC oxidation.
