profile

I am a Research Staff Member with the Human-Agent Collabaration group at IBM Research. I work with a multi-disciplinary team of designers, UI and UX engineers, software developers and researchers in prototyping and evaluating intelligent multi-modal, multi-user interfaces for cognitive objects and environments.

My research interests lie around the design of crowdsourcing systems, interaction paradigms for for wearables (smartwatches), an design of interfaces for cognitive objects. My work on wearables has been featured on the Wall Street Journal, has been awarded the Pacific Telecommunications Council Young Scholar Award and also awarded as a finalist at the 2014 Samsung Gear App Challenge. More recently, my research endeavours also explore the use of IBM Cognitive API's in designing compelling user experiences for cognitive environment and cognitive objects ().

I hold a PhD in Information Systems (HCI Focus) from City University of Hong Kong (2012 - 2016) where I was advised by Prof Christian Wagner. At City University, I was a recipient of the Hong Kong Government HKPFS fellowship, and my dissertation work investigated behavioural and design issues within software contest crowdsourcing platforms. I also hold an MSc in Information Networking from Carnegie Mellon University (2009 - 2011) where my masters thesis was on "Efficient Verification of Integrity and Authenticity of Web Resources Using Identity Based Cryptography".
