Ph.D. Genomics and Computational Biology (MCB), 2012, UC Berkeley
B.A. Psychoglogy & Anthropology, 2002, UT Austin
My general research interests are in machine learning and predictive data modeling as applied to artificial intelligence and personalization. I am specifically interested personalized medicine, bioinformatics, social networks, psycholinguistics, and how information is encoded and transmitted in social and biological systems.
My academic research history prior to joining IBM Research included work in psychology (psycholinguistics, social hierarchies, personality) and biology (structural biology, genetics, network biology, genomics, evolution and population genetics), which I conducted at the UT Austin, UC Berkeley, and EMBL Heidelberg.
Prior to joining IBM Research, I also worked in developing algorithms for content recommendation systems for the biomedical literature.
