Dr. Kala Fleming is a scientist and thought leader in the design and implementation of original, context appropriate technologies for resource constrained environments. She leads a team that delivers IoT and cognitive computing inspired solutions for water, agriculture and healthcare. As a trusted advisor, she works with government and the private sector to develop data driven strategies that improve food security, environmental sustainability and the prospects for economic development. Over the last 10 years, she has worked with under-served communities in the US, sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean providing advice and policy solutions focused on evolving more progressive communities.
Dr. Fleming earned her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of the Virgin Islands in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas and her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
