Lola Aleru has over 15 years experience in program development and management, specifically for research and science institutions. In 2012, she joined IBM Research Africa as the Program Manager for the Kenya Lab. In this role Lola managed several projects as well as implemented project management and agile development practices across project teams. Currently, she is applying her expertise for the Business Development team.
Lola is dedicated to enabling access to science education and leveraging technology to create solutions for challenges faced by emerging markets. To this end she relocated to Kenya in 2012 to open the Aquaya Institute's, Africa office and manage the Monitoring for Safe Water Program. Prior to that she functioned in a wide range of leadership and management capacities at The Exploratorium, a science and art institution in San Francisco, CA. Lola fueled her passion for science and technology as Associate Director of Membership Services at SACNAS, an organization that supports Chicano/Hispanic and Native American scientists in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership in STEM.
She received a B.S. in Business Management Economics from the University of California - Santa Cruz.
