Rikiya Takahashi is a research staff member in IBM Research - Tokyo, conducting machine learning research and development for real business applications. His research interests are various topics on machine learning, data mining, simulation, and optimization. His broad expertise of applied statistics includes design of scalable mining and optimization algorithms for big data, standardization among heterogeneous datasets, efficient variable selection, and state-space modeling for time-series data. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from University of Tsukuba in September 2014, his M.S. in Information Science and Technology from The University of Tokyo in March 2004, and a B.Eng. in Information and Communication Engineering from The University of Tokyo in March 2002.
