Pradipta De works as a Research Staff Member at IBM Research, India at New Delhi. He is a member of the IT Service Management and Cloud Computing group at IRL. He is involved in projects related to various aspects of Data Center Management and Service Delivery. In the space of Data Center Management he has looked at issues involving optimized Virtual Machine placements. He is also involved for efficient delivery of virtual machines in Cloud setup. In the space of Service delivery, he has worked on tools that complement the human centric service delivery by building safeguards while executing changes, thereby reducing the chance of mistakes.
Earlier he has worked with the High Performance Computing group. The project investigated the causes of peformance degradation for parallel applications when commodity Operating Systems are used in large cluster installations aimed at very high throughput.
Prior to joining IRL, he completed his doctoral disseration under the guidance of Prof. Tzi-cker Chiueh from State University of New York at Stony Brook. His dissertation explored the design and implementation of miniaturized wireless testbeds suitable for realistic wireless protocol testing under space constraints. He is an alumni of Jadavpur University, Kolkata where he completed the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering in 1999.
