Mitesh is currently a Senior Software Research Engineer in the Graph and Text Analytics group (part of Information and Analytics department) at IBM Research Labs in Bangalore, India. He has been with IBM for the last 7+ years and has 10+ years of overall industry experience. He has several (pending) US patent applications and publications. His current research focus is on Social media analytics for campaigns (twitter, facebook), Analytics for competitive intelligence such as entity recognition, Natural Language Processing (NLP), User & Entity Profile creation from unstructured text, images, videos etc., Data extraction, curation and integration (linking). Before that, he worked on large-scale automation of system administration and declarative-based AI techniques for task execution. In the recent past, he has also worked on problem classification, business process orchestration, content & compliance management etc. and has been awarded Outstanding Technical Accomplishment Award for his leadership. He has won a global research-wide hackathon contest and was part of runner-up team for EU hackathon challenge. He is interested in several research areas such as data mining, pattern recognition, machine learning, business analytics, spam recognition etc.
He holds a Masters in Computer Science (MS) degree from Univ. of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) and a Bachelors in Computer Engineering (BE) degree from Univ. of Mumbai. His thesis focused on image classification using SVMs within the Multiple Instance learning framework.
