Amith Singhee works in the areas of environmental impact modeling and optimization, AI in the IoT, predictive maintenance and operations optimization. He leads the reasearch activity in several of these areas, targeted to industries like Buildings, Retail, Agriculture and Energy.
He led the research work that resulted in multiple offerings from IBM, such as the Insights Foundation for Energy and Outage Prediction. This includes multi-year projects with large utilities on storm impact prediction, response optimization and high performance application platforms for Smarter Energy.
Prior to that Amith developed optimization and modeling approaches for improving IBM's SRAM design-technology co-optimization process.
He has a PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in ECE. His work on statistical design and optimization was awarded several awards: IEEE CEDA 2011 Donald O. Pederson Award, EDAA Outstanding Dissertation Award 2008, A.G. Milnes Award 2008 from Carnegie Mellon University and several best paper awards at top conferences in the fields of analytics for power systems and electronic design automation. At IBM his work on AOMS and smart grid applications received the Outstanding Technical Achievement Award (OTAA). Amith has served as Program Chair for the IEEE International Workshop on DFM&Y and on the program committee of IEEE ICCAD. Amith has co-authored several books, papers and patents in the area of electronic design automation and smart grid applications. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
