I am Anshu Jain, and I am a Technical Staff Member with the Infrastructure Management Services group at (IBM Research - India), Bangalore. The group brings together individuals with specializations in various computer science areas to drive innovation and cutting edge research for IBM's service delivery organizations. Thus, I dabble with various technologies and areas to deliver research that matters to the business.
My key work at IBM research over the last 3 years has revolved around two main areas. The first one is called Drishti - Desktop Analytics tool for the common man (Drishti* is an internal codename.. the product is not released outside IBM). It is meant to offer a lightweight and consumable solution bring some advanced text and visual analytics to the general services workforce of IBM without the need to undergo any training. The other key work I am involved in is related to formal design of services. This work is now funded by European Union under the FP7 research program. for more details refer to the link below.
Aside from these areas, I often moonlight in the area of user interaction, having filed three patent applications in this area. I am a strong proponent of the newly emerging discipline of Service Science, working actively within and outside IBM to promote the broader area and research in the same.
Before Joining IBM Research, I worked at SAP Labs India for 3 years, in the areas of enterprise software tools. My work was focused around modeling and composition tools on the eclipse platform. I also got a great deal of experience in change management systems for distributed software development.
I finished my M.Tech in Information Technology at IIIT-B (International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore). I am very passionate about sharing whatever little knowledge I gain. Thus I continue to be associated with the programming and software engineering department at the institute as a visiting lecturer, and project guide to students pursuing projects mainly on the eclipse platform.
