At IBM Research India, I lead and manage the High Performance Analytics group. My research interests include design and optimization of parallel algorithms and scheduling algorithms (in runtime systems such as Map Reduce and generic DAG scheduling frameworks) for multi-core architectures and massively parallel architectures, theoretical modeling of system performance, combinatorial algorithms and approximation algorithms as well as data mining/machine learning algorithms for Smarter Planet domains such as Wireless Analytics, Computational Biology and Computational Geosciences. I have 20 years experience in leadership positions in Research and Development. Some areas I have worked on in the past include, design and implementation of parallel algorithms; algorithms for VLSI physical design automation, parallelyzing compilers including partitioning, scheduling and routing on Massively Parallel Supercomputers; and model-checking algorithms including SAT and BDD based formal-verification. Prior to IBM, I worked in Sun Microelectronics (Sunnyvale, CA), Sun Microsystems Research Labs (Menlo Park, CA), Mentor Graphics (EDA company) and Atrenta (start-up in EDA). I have held Senior Management positions in Atrenta and Mentor Graphics.
