Peter Bak (PhD) joined in 2016 the Innovation & Partnership group of IBM Watson Health department. He is part of the Information Visualization and Visual Analytics team for health related application, which reach from disease management to research on diagnoses and prediction. He is mainly concerned with design and implementation of efficient interactive visualization for health related data coming from medical records, devices, and sensors. Together with smart analytic algorithms the visualization can help domain experts, researcher, and data scientists to better understand their domain. He is co-author of the Springer book on Visual Analytics of Movement, continuously publishing in scientific journals, and gives graduate courses in the field.
Previously, has been a senior scientist at IBM Research Lab, Haifa since 2010. He worked in the field of visual analytics for the spatiotemporal domain, e.g. analysis of geographic movement in maritime traffic and public trnasportation, indoor temperature sensor analysis for early anomaly detection and exploration of historical events.
Education: he was a Post-Doctoral fellow at the Visual Analytics Group in the Department of Information & Computer Science at the University of Konstanz / Germany. He did his PhD on Human Factors in Visual Data Analysis at the Human Factors Engineering Group in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer Sheva / Israel.
