Fearghal O'Donncha is a Research Scientist at the Smarter Cities Technology Centre (SCTC) in Dublin, Ireland. His main research areas include computer modelling of oceanic, coastal and freshwater systems focusing on both hydrodynamic and water quality investigations. Currently his research focuses on the optimisation of model accuracy and performance by a combination of data measurement assimilation and numerical scheme modifications with HPC applications.
Research interests include numerical modelling, hydrodynamic and hydro-environmental processes, numerical analysis, data uncertainty, stochastic processes, biogeochemical modelling and real-world applications.
Fearghal completed his PhD at National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), in civil engineering, with a focus on coastal ocean applications. The subject of his PhD was the investigation of impeded ocean flows by a combination of numerical and scale modelling studies.
