Alessandra is a research manager of the 'NLP and Reasoning' research team in the Dublin Research Lab focusing on enhancing the Accelerated Discovery framework on real world usecases. The focus of the team is specifically around NLP, Reasoning, Optimization and Control applied to a broad set of usecases, with the majority being in the healthcare space. Her research interest are in the area of statistical models for person centered analytics, management of multiple chronic disease, and feature selection/ranking for healthcare. Her original background is in statistics and statistical signal processing. Since joining IBM she has been working in several real world usecases and projects and has a succesfull record of delivery in EU government funded projects, client projects and collaborating with relevant IBM Business Units. She has been working on several workstreams enhancing her expertise in the area of machine-learning for managing multi-morbidity, applying NLP for extracting relevant evidence from text, evaluating/implementing digital health solutions for accelerating clinical trials. She is author of more than 20 peer-reviewed publications and 15 patents.

Alessandra Pascale received the B.Sc. degree (with honors) from Politecnico di Bari in 2006 and the M.Sc. degree (mark 110/110) from Politecnico di Milano in 2009, both in Telecommunication Engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in Information Technology from Politecnico di Milano in 2013. She was also enrolled in the ASP (Alta Scuola Politecnica) program, a school of excellence between Politecnico di Milano and Politecnico di Torino. She was visiting researcher at University of California, Berkeley, in the TOPL group, from February to July 2012.
