I joined IBM research in June 2016. I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Computational Biology Center, where I work under Guillermo Cecchi.
My primary research interest is machine learning with applications in computational linguistics. I am also interested in applying machine learning to neuroscientific and genetic data. My theoretical interests are in spectral learning/learning theory, graphical models, and nonparametric models.
In August 2016 my paper with Ben Bergen and Roger Levy on applying metric learning for kernel regression to an old problem in linguistics won the Best Paper Award at ACL, the premier conference for computational linguistics and natural language processing and a top-tier computer science conference.
I received my PhD from UCSD in 2016. Before that I received my BA from Columbia University in 2008.
