Dr. Xiaowei Shen is currently the director of IBM Research – China as well as the CTO of IBM GCG. Prior to his China assignment, Dr. Shen worked as a researcher at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center.
Dr. Shen received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China.
His research interests include computer architectures, software and hardware co-design, distributed computing, Big Data, Internet-of-Things, and innovations for Cognitive Computing and Cloud Platform.

Dr. Shen is a guest professor at Peking University and Nankai University. He also serves as a guest PhD supervisor at the Harbin Institute of Technology.
