Dr. Jaione Tirapu-Azpiroz joined IBM in 2004, at the Semiconductor Research and Development Center (SRDC) in Hopewell Junction, New York. She worked with the Computational Lithography Group, involved in the development of advanced semiconductor manufacturing technology. She was part of the Source Mask Optimization project team receiving an IBM Research Technical Accomplishments Award in 2009. She joined IBM Research - Brazil in July of 2012, becoming part of the Smarter Devices Team.
Dr. Jaione Tirapu-Azpiroz received her PhD in 2004, in Electrical Engineering by the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), working in the Photonics and Optoelectronics Group with Professor Eli Yablonovitch. She received her Masters in Telecommunications Engineering in 1999 by the Public University of Navarre, Spain, having spent one year at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom, as an exchange student. Before joining the University of California in July of 2000, she spent a year in the Electromagnetic Division of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Noordwijk, The Netherlands.
